Welcome to our Coaches pages. Here you will find information about player development, coaches development and training advice and tips relevant to the game of Rugby. One of the essential pillars of the club is the committed coaching team that works with all ages to ensure that the core skills are learnt and executed in the spirit of the game and in a safe and controlled manner.
This page will introduce each of the coaches and their objectives for their age respective group.

Jonty Spaul - Men's Team Coach
Jonty is a RFU Level 2 coach and was formerly involved with Old Hamptonians coaching them to the Pilkington Shield Final at Twickenham 1994, and Middlesex Championship 1995.
He is currently full-time Director of Sport at an all-boys school in Berkshire, but previously coached Purley John Fisher RFC to the London SW4 Championship in 2003 and was Surrey Schools U16 Head Coach 1998 - 2002 and a Divisional U16 Selector.
Jonty, first played with Overton as a 14 year old and has coached the Men's team to the Hampshire Division 3 Championship 1996, the Easter Festoval title and more recently the Hampshire Division 3 Championship 2007/2008 - undefeated in the league.
Jonty's credo is: "Play a 15 man game, heads up - eyes open".

Gary Millar - Director of Rugby
Gary has been coaching young players for nearly 11 years passing his RFU level 1 accreditation back in 1997. He was also instrumental in getting the local secondary schools to TWICKENHAM where the year 7's won the daily Telegraph emerging schools competition. Gary became a county coach in 2002 and has been lead coach at U14 and U15 and is now part of the U16's coaching team. Gary also received the Communigate Sports Coach of the Year Award in 2002. Gary is now very heavily involved in the Hampshire elite player academy which forms part of the RFU performance pathway into the perfessional rugby enviroment.

Paul (Jock) Inglis - under 16's Coach
Paul (Jock) Inglis has been a stalwart of Overton Rugby Club playing there since his teenage years and like Gary has been coaching young players for about 10 years. Working with Testbourne school, Jock was part of the coaching partnership that got the boys to TWICKENHAM. Jock became involved in the county structure in 2005, firstly as an assesor, and more latterly as part of the under 14 coaching team. Now very heavily involved in the Hampshire coaching structure and ensuring Overton players get on to the RFU performance pathway and potentially into the professional rugby enviroment.
